A new adventure, in the changing but amazingly rich waters of the Nusa Penida Marine Protected Area, an island in the eastern side of Bali.
This project took place in October 2020 and was supported by Blancpain Ocean Commitment and the French Embassy in Indonesia, and was conducted in close collaboration with Universitas Udayana, Bali, Indonesia. The team was notably able to conduct the first intensive deep dives in the challenging waters of this part of Bali, documenting for the first time the unique underwater landscapes and new marine species and interesting behaviours at depths of up to 100 metres. More than 260 hours of cumulated dive time, 200 of which dedicated to deep dives, were achieved and a lot of data that now needs to be processed and analysed, have been collected. We hope this work will help improving conservation efforts in the area, efforts that are so important in these times of global changes.
